Day: 8 March 2025

Canada’s defence policy, “Strong, Secure, Engaged” (SSE), has committed to investing in 15 Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) ships. Known as the River-class Destroyers (RCD), these ships will be Canada’s major surface component of maritime combat power.

Canada Awards Contract for River-Class Destroyers

The first three ships will be named His Majesty’s Canadian Ships Fraser, Saint-Laurent, and Mackenzie, after Canada’s most important waterways that reach the Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic oceans.
