"This Rating began his service in Defensively Equipped Merchant Ships in April 1942, and has served at sea for twenty-seven months as a Gunlayer in the S.S. Windermere Park. He sailed as Third Officer and Gunlayer after the Master had been hospitalized. His ability, efficiency, cheerfulness and devotion to duty are in accordance with the highest tradition of the Royal Canadian Navy."
