"For devotion to duty and meritorious services before the enemy. The high state of efficiency to which Engine Room Artificer 3rd Class Renaud has brought the Engine Room Department of his ship contributed to a large degree to the destruction of an enemy U-Boat. During the action itself, this Chief Petty Officer promptly repaired a pipe fractured by depth charge explosions thus enabling the ship to continue the hunt to its successful conclusion."
