"This Rating has served in HMCS Bittersweet since 23 January 1941, in all ranks from Engine Room Artificer Fourth Class to Acting Chief Engine Room Artificer, during which time he has carried out his duties in an outstanding manner. He has been an inspiration to those with whom he has served and to the men under him by his constant application to duty. As an Engineer Officer has never been carried in this ship, he was directly responsible for keeping her machinery in excellent running order."
