"This rating, who served with the Imperial Army in the last war, and as a convoy signalman in the North Atlantic at the beginning of this war, has been in charge for the past four years at Examination Battery, McNab's Island, Halifax. Throughout this period, he has shown an excellent example of leadership, cheerful discipline and initiative in carrying out his duties. During heavy convoy movements, his station has been taxed to the utmost and any mistakes which might have had serious consequences were non-existent."
