"This Sick Berth Attendant has been aboard HMCS Pictou since 30 October 1942. During this time, he has been extremely conscientious, cheerful and energetic, and a splendid example to his shipmates. In a recent accident causing a loss of two fingers to a gunnery rating, the first aid carried out by this Sick Berth Attendant was of the highest order."
