Note: He commanded a patrol vessel and received the DSC for a raid on the Zeebrugge Harbour in April 1918. His patrol vessel was one of the four that sunk the old RN vessel HMS Vindictive at the mouth of the mole at Zeebrugge which blocked the harbour entrance and trapped the German vessels then in port.
