“This Officer has served at sea in charge of the machinery of his Majesty's destroyers in the North Atlantic for a period of over two years. Through his zeal, efficiency, excellent leadership and unfailing good humour, under the most tying conditions, he has maintained the efficiency of his department at a very high level. Thus due to his efforts, his ship has always been able to carry out the duties required of her in the Battle of the Atlantic."
