The Future Navy
Future Ships: New AORs

A new class of AOR vessels would provide a much needed sea-lift capability in order to support both the Navy at sea, and the Army ashore. This class would replace the rapidly aging Protecteur Class AORs (HMCS PROTECTEUR and HMCS PRESERVER).

The AOR is proposed to be a modular design combined with storage facilities for the stores needed to keep the Navy at sea, and a large helicopter deck for operating helicopters and storing Army equipment and vehicles. The design may incorporate a RO-RO (Roll On - Roll Off) capability.
