(Glossary of Heraldic Terms)
There are several possible interpretations of this squadron badge. In one instance, the comet may symbolize those who rise through training from the sea (in base) to the sky. Another possibility is that the training bestowed by this squadron was the light that guided new people to their destinies - flying over the world's oceans in the service of the crown. It may also be possible that the light from the comet is the heraldic depiction of the skill of the sentinels mentioned in the motto - those who guard ships at sea and provide them with information which is beyond their own horizon.
The squadron was formed in May 1954 and became part of VU-32 in May 1959.
