This badge design incorporates a background taken from the arms of British Columbia, where the squadron was based, and a creature from Indigenous folklore. It is depicted in a flying position to represent the air squadron.
The squadron was formed on December 1, 1953 as the successor to Cadet Flying Unit 1 and was located in Patricia Bay on Vancouver Island. This unit is no longer operational.
