(Glossary of Heraldic Terms)
Since the name was first introduced into the RCN in 1915, units bearing the name Stadacona have played many parts. However, by far the most important of these was the training which she undertook to achieve. This fact is incorporated into the badge design, for on the field of blue representing the ocean, an arm holding the lamp of knowledge is shown.
Stadacona was officially established as the Naval Training unit on July 1, 1923. She remained so until April 1, 1966. After unification, she became part of what is now CFB Halifax.
