Named for the town of St. Stephen in New Brunswick. The design utilizes the cross to represent the martyrdom of this saint and the rays of glory above it, as well as using the stones to represent the means by which he actually met his death.
St. Stephen was a River class frigate. She was commissioned in July 1944 and wore pennant K454 until she was paid off in January 1946.
