(Glossary of Heraldic Terms)
This circle of links joined together symbolizes the past and present Naval Reserve Divisions of Canada. The maple leaf with oval and anchor is a device used on the unofficial badge of one of the first destroyers in the Canadian Navy, HMCS Patriot. The whole design is intended to suggest that Canada's Reserve Divisions form a strong and unbroken part of the country's naval heritage.
