This badge is from the crest of the town of New Liskeard in Northern Ontario. The origin of the device is unknown but the tree standing on bare ground suggests something growing on barren ground symbolizing the town's history and ambitions. The civic colours are purple and white, and the pile indicates growth.
New Liskeard was an Algerine class minesweeper. Commissioned in November 1944, she wore pennant J397 until she was paid off in April 1946. She was recommissioned in September 1946, and wore pennant 169 until finally paid off in April 1958.
