(Glossary of Heraldic Terms)

Significance

This command was formed when the Armed Forces were unified. The base of blue is of course, in reference to the oceans of the world where elements of the command can be called upon to operate. The foul anchor has long been the symbol of the navy, and in this badge design represents the naval units of the command. The eagle flying represents the air units of the command. Their close association in the badge design is mimicked in real life for both are essential to successful maritime operations.
