The elements and colours in this device effectively illustrate magnificence. The regal colours, the glory and power of the sun and the symbols of national allegiance, the maple leaf, combine to form a badge no less magnificent than the vessel herself.
Originally HMS Magnificent, she was commissioned into the RCN in April 1948. With her compliment of around 30 aircraft, she wore pennant 21 until she was paid off in June 1957.
