Significance

This ship's badge shows the dragon of Wales, with a portcullis hanging from its neck by a chain. The portcullis or castle gate is one of the devices associated with the British Houses of Parliament with which the great Welshman, Earl Lloyd George, was so long connected.

Remarks

Lloyd George was a member of the Llewellyn class of minesweeper. She was commissioned in August of 1942 and she wore pennant J279 until she was paid off in July 1948.
