The city of Hull, situated on the opposite bank of the Ottawa River from the nation's capital, was incorporated in 1875. The name was adopted from the township in which it is located, which in turn received its name from Hull, Yorkshire. In commemorating the town of Hull, the badge for La Hulloise shows a "lozenge" which refers to the ship herself, a sprig of three maple leaves in reference to the Province of Quebec and a ducal coronet, reminiscent of Yorkshire.
La Hulloise was a River class frigate. She was commissioned in May 1944,and wore pennant K668 until she was decommissioned in December 1945. After conversion to a Prestonian class ocean escort, she recommissioned in October 1957, and wore pennant 305 until she was paid off in July 1965.
