(Glossary of Heraldic Terms)
This squadron was sometimes referred to as the workhorse of the Naval Air Service. Its badge design incorporates the Pegasus, a mythical beast possessed of great strength. It is depicted as if preparing for Hight, and the hooves touching the water reaffirm the bond between the squadron and the Navy.
The unit was formed in November 1942 as (VH) Squadron 21 and was renamed HU-21 in April 1955. The unit is no longer in service.
