Here, the insect is poised in the air, its "stinger" probing the waters for its prey. Just as a person is sometimes only aware of a mosquito after it has bitten - so would the submarines be surprised if the squadron unexpectedly struck.
This squadron was formed on July 4, 1955 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, but is now no longer operational.
