Significance

This badge design incorporates a device from the crest of arms of Sir John Pitt, Second Earl of Chatham, who was First Lord of the Admiralty from 1788 to 1794. It was during this period that Captain George Vancouver was conducting his explorations of the west coast of Canada, and had a ship named Chatham in company.

Remarks

Originally established for the NOIC in Prince Rupert in June 1940, this division was commissioned on April 1, 1942 and served until some time in 1945. Chatham became a reserve division on October 21, 1946 and decommissioned on March 31, 1964.
