Significance

The swan, taken from the coat of arms of Buckingham, England, after which the Quebec town was named, is wearing a coronet of Canada instead of a normal ducal coronet. This is made up of a circlet of gold with maple leaves around the rim instead of the strawberry leaves of the ducal coronet. The red background and the white of the swan refer to the colours of Canada.
