Significance

The design used in this badge is a rebus on the name Beacon Hill. Commemorating Victoria, British Columbia.

Remarks

Beacon Hill was commissioned in 1944, and was constructed as part of the 1942-43 River class frigate programme. She wore pennant K407 until 1946, when she was paid off into reserve. She was reactivated in 1949, and served until 1954 as a training vessel. Between 1953 to 1958 she underwent the refit which produced the Prestonian class of ocean escort. She wore pennant 303 from 1949 until her decommissioning in September 1967.
