Significance

The swordfish and motto indicate the squadrons operational duties in the detection and destruction of enemy vessels.

Remarks

The squadron was formed as 415 (Torpedo Bomber) squadron at Toomey Island, England on August 20, 1941 and disbanded in Yorkshire, England on May 15, 1945. It was later reformed as a maritime patrol squadron in Summerside, Prince Edward Island on May 1, 1961. Still operational, VP-415 flies the CP-140 Aurora from CFB Greenwood, Nova Scotia
