Significance

The breed of dog refers to the ship's name, the anchor to the navy and the maple leaf to Canada.

Remarks

Llewellyn was the lead ship in the Llewellyn class of minesweeper. Commissioned in August 1942, she wore pennant J278 until she was paid off in June 1946. She was later recommissioned in 1949, and served as a tender at Saint John. She wore pennant 141 until she was paid off in October 1951.
