Significance

Comox is an Indigenous word, which means plenty or abundance. This rather humorous design of the Combed Ox is an innovation in the best traditions of heraldry, including the way in which the ox-head is depicted.

Remarks

Comox (I) was a Fundy class minesweeper commissioned in 1938. She wore pennant J64 until she as paid off in July 1945. Comox (II) was one of the Bay class minesweepers, and was commissioned in April 1954. She wore pennant 146 until she was paid off in September 1957, when she was transferred to the Turkish Navy.
